My Therea olegrandjeani have been maturing at a good rate over the last couple months. I now have ten adults, with only two nymphs left(one of which is unfortunately way younger than the other and likely won't be able to breed during its lifetime.) But note that I only have a total of twelve now, that's because I sadly had my oldest adult female die yesterday. It had a relatively productive life and produced some oothecae for me, which I am very happy with. During its last couple days, one of it's wings was almost completely eaten by the others, which is pretty odd, but I'm guessing that it might be normal for this species?
I'm not going to share any pictures in this post because I will be creating a four-post picture series on all of my inverts!!! I'm going to create one post for my roaches, one post for my isopods, one post for my beetles, and one post for my other invertebrates. I'll be getting those post out very soon, so be on the lookout!
Nice, glad they are maturing for you! :) Actually her wings getting bit off does not sound normal, mine never did that, maybe feed them more protien? I've noticed Therea adults require more supplemental feeding than the nymphs do, I don't think they can survive on dead leaves alone.
ReplyDeleteCool, can't wait to see your new photo series! :)
Thanks, me too! I suspected that might have been the case, gave them some chichlid fish pellets after I noticed her wings. Thanks so much for the info about the adult feeding, I didn't know that! I always noticed that the adults fed on the supplemental foods way more than the nymphs, but didn't know they actually needed it.
DeleteThanks, I might be able to get one out by tonight. :)
