Hi Guys!
I just have a quick I.D request. I really need an I.D since I lost it in my house and don't know how venomous it is! If it helps at all it's from Sublette, Illinois and I found it on some rocks at the edge of a lake, and it also is fast and likes to sit flatly.
Here's some pictures!
I doubt it's dangerous at all and it is mostly very afraid so it would probably never come into contact with us but just to be sure I'd like an I.D. Hope you guys can help me out!
Some sort of Lycosid, but I can't say more than that. Definitely not cause for concern, the venom is probably very mild. Hope you can find the little bugger! :)
ReplyDeleteOk, that's good! I just found out it's a Stone spider( Pardosa lapidicina.)
DeleteIt was a very cool spider, hope I can find it too!
Just found it while I was sitting on my couch eating some pizza, and noticed it watching me from a small table that we have some bark and rocks on top of! Now I can do a blog post on the new bugs I found over the weekend! The other bugs I found were an adult male Lucanus placidus and an adult male Maevia inclemens, also saw a couple adult female M.inclemens that were also on the large rocks at the edge of a lake were I found the others, but they were too fast for me to catch as they darted under the rocks or in tight crevices in between rocks, would have been cool to nab some, they were very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCool, glad you got it ID'd and captured it, and I look forward to that post! :D
DeleteUpdate: found out that these are in fact Pardosa steva, my bad!
